diesel electric locomotives
1.Easy maintenance
2.Diesel engine in large traction
3.Low cost
4.Electronic controls
A diesel mechanical locomotive is the simplest type of diesel locomotive.
As the name suggests, a mechanical transmission on a diesel locomotive consists a direct mechanical link between the diesel engine and the wheels.
In the example below, the diesel engine is in the 350-500 hp range and the transmission is similar to that of an automobile with a four speed gearbox.
Most of the parts are similar to the diesel-electric locomotive but there are some variations in design mentioned below.
Advanced technongy
Fuel-efficient
Low pollution
Low emissions
Great tractive effort
Heavy duty loading capacity
Smoothly climbing and moving
Safe braking control system
Reliable and easy operation
Simple maintenance
25-30% energy saving compared to DC driving type
Less emission, Eco-Friendly
